Catherine hadn't really planned to start her own practice, in 1994 whilst at home with her first born, she was approached by a relative to help with their business. Working just a few hours a week, referrals led to more clients and gradually the business grew and within a few years the garage was converted to an office and extra help was hired to help with demand.
In 2015 the Solve team moved to its current premises in Motukairangi (Miramar), Wellington.
Catherine’s interest in accounting and book keeping started early. After winning a commercial diligence prize at school she landed a job at a mid-tier accounting firm where she worked while studying her accounting papers.
After gaining several years’ experience in the private and public sectors in Wellington, Catherine left the world of permanent roles to raise her four children and work for herself.
An entrepreneur herself, Catherine loves using her expertise to help other businesses succeed and is passionate about delivering top service to clients.
“I like supporting people in business. I like to feel I am a part of what they are doing and helping them realise their dreams.”
Catherine says it’s important that accountants are trustworthy, non-judgemental and approachable.
“Some people come to us when things aren’t going well for them financially. It’s important that we help them in a supportive and professional way. The focus is ‘how can we help you to get all the things done that are required to deal with the situation and take the stress off you’.”
When she’s not solving accounting challenges and sorting the books Catherine enjoys spending time in nature, charity work, the occasional fun dance class and enjoying her labradoodle Korra. Now a mum to four adult children, Catherine has recently also developed a new interest in photography and is taking lessons to work on improving her shot.

Our growing team collectively have many years of accounting and administration experience across a wide range of small to medium businesses and industries. We’ve used all types of accounting software and seen many business processes over the years. Most of our team work remotely. The year 2020 brought about many changes in New Zealand and globally, and showed us that we can work with anyone anywhere in the world. We have sought out the best people for our team locally, in other parts of New Zealand and offshore.
